Silent Positioning Monitor Hardware (SPM)

SPM5000The SPM on-board computer is the ideal partner for public and private transit drivers. The SPM can controls voice and data traffic, calculates the location information and the current timetable situation. It is designed to allow for a variety of functions including real-time and history tracking, event-based monitoring, exception monitoring, wireless transactions such as credit card or company-specific forms.

It also integrates with the following peripheral devices in the vehicle, such as automatic fare collection, passenger counting systems or passenger information. It provides the capability to hook up sensors and vehicle controls, such as remote “panic” alarms, open door sensors, turn on/off vehicle alarm.

The SPM series communicates cross-platform over conventional radio, commercial digital networks such as GSM and satellite. The SPM series integrates with mobile data terminals, hand-held computers, and laptop computers.

The SPM is:

  • Central interface to the vehicle operator
  • Control unit for all other peripheral applications in the vehicles
  • Control and processing of voice and data functions
  • Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL)

SPM Components include:

  • GPS Receiver
  • Modem
  • Memory /Storage
  • Optional Messaging Terminal

SPM Collects data from GPS satellites:

  • Info can be transmitted live OR stored for later retrieval
  • GPS position (lat/long/address), & time

SPM Collects events such as:

  • Speed/Stand Still Alarms
  • Exits/Entries from alert zones

User determines and configures:

  • How often unit stores/transmits data
  • What events they need reported
  • User specifies storage/transmit intervals by time or distance
  • Unit stores/transmits on whatever interval milestone it reaches first
