Success Stories

STLSociety of Transport of Laval, Canada – The installation, integration and implementation of an Operational and Fleet Management System for over 240 buses and 10 supervisor vehicles. System includes Automatic Vehicle Location, Schedule Adherence; a custom designed VoIP call dispatch, voice and data communications over cellular network as well as a Wi-Fi in-garage bus locator. The installed system was integrated with GIRO dispatch software, HASTUS transit planning software and in-house proprietary scheduling databases. Using the SPM 5000, ISR was able to integrate InfoDev passenger counter and a variety of on-board peripheral devices such as J1708. Management system is fully operational.

EggedEgged Bus Company – Egged has a fleet of 3300 buses. The system is based on the SPM 4000. It includes full integration with the company’s Human Resources system as well as the company’s fleet allocation servers. The system integrates with Egged's Automatic Fare Collection system as well as their fleet maintenance and national control facilities. The fleet operates on a regional basis with every region monitoring and controlling only those buses that belong to their region or are physically driven into their regions. In addition, the SPM 4000 monitors and reports exceptions which are derived from the engine J1939 CAN interfaces.

Dan BusDan Bus Company – This project integrated advanced AVL with location-based advertising for a large public bus company. In this project, ISR installed a high-resolution graphic display in the bus facing the passengers. This sign is controlled by the SPM 5000 equipped with a GPRS radio and a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT). The SPM 5000 performs real-time monitoring of route deviation and schedule adherence and updated a display with “Next Bus” information as well as displaying commercial ads based on bus location. In addition, the SPM 5000 provided the driver with two emergency push buttons and full messaging with the bus company dispatch center. The system interfaces to the Automatic Fare Collection box and CAN interface to the bus engine diagnostics computer.

HansonHanson – Hanson is a ready-mixed concrete, asphalt and cement producer and distributor. A SPM100 installed in each ready-mixed truck with a custom application accept SAP originated assignment ticket for the truck. These SAP tickets include distribution locations, mandatory or optional delivery order, delivery stop dependencies, actions that must take place at a delivery location such as minimum duration at location, sensor activities or combination of sensor and time parameters. The system also includes an option of downloading and displaying tickets and schedules for drivers using a Mobile Data Terminal, driver authentication, time clock application and a wide range of exception based monitoring, storing and reporting set of capabilities.

GMIC – A Belgium company engaged in secure transport of precious stones and currencies. The system includes SPM units connected to the on-board alarm system and a hand held remote control May Day panic button. The system works over the Mobitex network and was implemented in partnership with RAM Mobile Belgium and Deltronics Belgium. The base station software includes the ISR FleetTrack integrated with a customized version of ISR InfoTrack used for event management and status/message database management.

Belgium PoliceBelgium police – The system installed at the Belgium police includes multiple base station controlling police cars in two districts of the Belgium police. The police cars are equipped with the SPM-3000 units that are integrated with the police car radio, flash lamps, alarm system, gun safety and two other sensors. The system monitors the status of every car, displays closest car to an incident and automatically identifies cars that require assistance. The system works over the police VHF and GDSM networks.

Dana Transport – A fuel and oil transport company in the USA. The system includes a network of dispatch stations to monitor and better manage oil distribution. The system reports the status of every vehicle, checks that the oil is being delivered to the correct customer (using DGPS accuracy that can distinguish between two gas stations across each other), computes travel time, distance when full and empty and sends new assignments to drivers. Compute speed in regions and send alarm to driver and dispatch id tanker exceeds speed in regions of dangerous curves. System works over CDPD and GPRS.

On-Line Taxi – This is a state-of-the-art system for taxi dispatch and management. Based on ISR’s FleetTrack this system will automatically monitor taxi entry and exit from the different regions they operate in. The monitoring is performed by SPM software every second and only transmitting a message to the base when it actually enters a new region. The ability to have a high frequency of entry monitoring with a very small amount of data transmission makes this system a highly reliable system with very low operating costs. Taxi dispatch calls are sent to the taxi in the order of entry into each region. The system also includes support for credit card fare collection, smart card debit management, infrastructure for connecting passengers to the Internet during long journeys and infrastructure for location base advertising. The Taxi system is installed in over 2600 taxis and has proven extremely reliable and useful.

Detroit Public School Board (DPS) – The ISR FleetTrack manages a fleet of 875 school buses serving 5 counties within the state of Michigan. ISR is integrated with a suite of routing and GIS packages developed by ESRI and used by the school administrators. The system operates over a UHF trunked network and is unique in its ability to perform exception analysis, storage and when required reporting without having to send its position on a regular cyclic basis. The SPM 3000 performs route adherence analysis once a second. It calculates time of arrival and departure at stops along the route, proper stopping and door opening at railroad crossings, speeding, unauthorized usage, still and emergency events. In addition the system includes a time clock application, fleet maintenance, J1708 engine diagnostics interface and general AVL.

Waste Management – The Waste Management system started with an initial pilot that included 65 trucks in Batavia Illinois, 85 in Wisconsin, and 65 in Trenton NJ. The pilot project was very successful. WM internal analysis revealed that they may be reaching savings as high as $ 4,500 per truck every month. Follow on orders included an additional 1400 units that were deployed across the mid west, state of NJ and state of NY.

Indian River School District – This state-of-the-art system is being deployed to promote student safety and increased efficiency of school bus management. Each bus is equipped with an SPM 3000/iDEN along with an ISR MDT Pro and a student ID card reader. ISR FleetTrack is integrated with the district’s back-end GIS school bus route management system. Whenever the bus is assigned a new route or changes are made to the route or student list, the bus route along with the student list associated with the route is downloaded to the SPM 3000. The SPM 3000 software will report all route deviation, bus stop arrival and departure exceptions and exceptions relating to unauthorized use of school bus services by students.

City of Los Angeles – This state of the art parking enforcement system is deployed in 625 parking enforcement vehicles and in seven regional dispatch centers across the city of Los Angeles. The system promotes officer safety and state-of-the-art situation awareness. The system includes full schedule and schedule adherence and real time dispatch of officers to special events and operations.
